Join the Coral Gables Museum for a conversation on the challenges of contemporary Ukrainian art in times of war in the context of the exhibition ‘Painting in Excess: Kyiv’s Art Revival, 1985 – 1993’. Participants will be discussing Kyiv’s contemporary art scene today, exploring influences in contemporary painting, Ukrainian cultural identity and aesthetics, and social and political activism in the visual arts, among others.
Following the conversation, please join Asia Bazdireva, Alisa Lozhkina, and Julia Tulovsky, contributors to the scholarly publication ‘Painting in Excess: Kyiv’s Art Revival, 1985 – 1993’ that accompanies the exhibition, as they present the book.
