Lieutenant Jack Young began his career with the Bal Harbour Police Department in 2003. He has faithfully served the Village of Bal Harbour in nearly every facet of police service. Lt. Young’s tenure include assignments in patrol, motorcycle/traffic, special operations, and the criminal investigations unit. He is committed to the philosophy of intelligence led-policing reinforced by a strong community based approach.

In 2009, Lt. Young was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. He was then assigned operational command of the property and evidence section. He upgraded the existing hand written system into an up-to-date computer based tracking program and implemented annual audits in an effort to promote accountability and professional compliance. Lt. Young was an integral part of launching several training initiatives; and securing the tools and equipment for officers to perform their duties in a safe and more efficient manner.

In 2016, Lt. Young was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an Anti-Terrorism Officer. He obtained Top Secret clearance and was sworn in as deputy U.S Marshal assigned to the Miami division. Lt. Young was able to gain a comprehensive understanding about the challenges that can face a community such as the village.

Lt. Young is a Miami native, he is a graduate of the University of Louisville, Southern Police Institute Command Officer Development Course and International Association of Chiefs of Police, Leadership in Police Organizations. Lt. Young is also a state firearms instructor.
