Improvements
Bal Harbour Waterfront Park Right-of-Way Improvements will begin on March 14 and includes the following work:
- Widening the road to allow for two-way traffic entering and exiting the residential area
- Replacing the existing gate to the residential community (vehicular and pedestrian)
- Repaving the road from the intersection of Bal Bay Drive and Park Drive south to 96 Street
- Installing drainage, and constructing curb and sidewalk for the proposed entrance and exit to the new Bal Harbour Waterfront Park
- Installing the underground utility line for TECO gas
- Installing underground water mains at the intersection of Bal Bay Drive and Park Drive
Impacts
Starting March 14 and through April 15, Bal Bay Drive will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic turning north from 96th Street. Anyone wishing to conduct business at Village Hall should see section below on Accessing Village Hall.
Flagmen will be on-site at all times throughout the project to ensure emergency access to Police and Fire Departments. All other vehicles and pedestrians should follow all posted detour signs.
Security for the gated community will be maintained throughout the work period.
Accessing Village Hall
Anyone needing to conduct business at Village Hall may park at the Bal Harbour Shops and walk through the pedestrian gate at the southwest corner of the parking garage, near Bal Bay Drive. Visitors will be provided free parking validation by Village staff. Pedestrians will also be able to access Village Hall from the 96th Street Main Entrance during this time.
3/14 thru 3/19
- Vehicular access northbound from 96th Street will be CLOSED during this period, except for Police and Fire vehicles in case of emergency.
- Vehicular access southbound from Park Drive will be OPEN except for Tuesday, March 14, and Thursday, March 16, 10 am – 4 pm.
- Pedestrian access entering and exiting the gated community will be CLOSED daily, from 6 am – 6 pm.
3/20 thru 3/26
- Vehicular access northbound from 96th Street will be CLOSED during this period, except for Police and Fire vehicles in case of emergency.
- Vehicular access southbound from Park Drive will be OPEN.
- Pedestrian access entering and exiting the gated community will be OPEN.
3/27 thru 4/1
- Vehicular access northbound from 96th Street will be CLOSED during this period, except for Police and Fire vehicles in case of emergency.
- Vehicular access exiting the gated community will be CLOSED.
- Pedestrian access entering and exiting the gated community will be CLOSED.
4/3 thru 4/15
Additional work will take place during these two weeks, but Village staff will work to minimize impacts as much as possible. Information will be shared as we get closer to these dates, and confirm that the work scheduled for March 14 – April 1 was completed as anticipated.
