Bal Harbour Waterfront Park

Welcome to the
Bal Harbour Waterfront Park

About the Park

This enclave features an open lawn area for passive activities, strolling paths, meditative spaces, progressive exercise zones, and a “Mother Earth, Cycle of Life”-themed playground designed by award-winning Danish firm, Monstrum. The 1.5 acre property also includes a community center with a terrace garden, a splash pad, and additional Raymond Jungles-designed landscaping with a forest-style canopy that leads visitors into the new community center.

The intimate, three-story jewel has a mirrored-glass design which reflects the park from the outside and brings nature inside. This 15,000 square foot facility houses multi-purpose event spaces, an indoor toddler playground, as well as the administrative offices for the Recreation, Arts & Culture department. A third-floor landscaped and covered roof deck will have magnificent water and city views and can be multifunctional for use as a party and pre-function space or for relaxation.

In preparation for the opening of the park, the Village is providing various community engagement opportunities for residents to provide feedback, including an additional recreation needs survey and demo programming where residents can try classes out and provide recommendations on future offerings.

Grand Opening

Be a part of the celebration as we formally open the new Bal Harbour Waterfront Park with two grand events.

The Celebration has been spread out over two weeks and on varying days of the week to allow for maximum participation by all of our full-time and part-time residents. The events have been curated to showcase the various amenities and features of the Waterfront Park; allowing residents to experience every element the park has to offer.

Grand Opening Debut

Sunday, January 14 | 4 – 7 PM
Residents get an inside look at the three-story community center and how the building was meticulously designed to offer a variety of programs and services. Each room of the facility will be activated with classes and activities for guests to experience some of the programming coming to the center.

Grand Opening Finale & Fireworks

Saturday, January 27 | 6 – 9 PM
The evening begins on the rooftop terrace with a cocktail hour and an inside look at how the architects developed the plans for an all-in-one park like no other. The celebration culminates with a concert on the green overlooking the waterway. The evening ends with close proximity fireworks from the roof of the community center.

Residents can make a reservation for the Grand Opening events online at

Recreation Programs

This past fall season, we launched our Discover Recreation program preview. The program series offered a sampling of complimentary programming for all ages, including a Beach Soccer Clinic for youth, a Teen Game Night, and Tai Chi for Adults and Seniors. The program preview allowed residents to experience some of the programs that will be available in the coming months at the new Bal Harbour Waterfront Park. Through the series, the Recreation, Arts, & Culture Department was able to gather additional feedback on program offerings, instructors, and schedules. Discover Recreation programs will continue after the new year to allow all residents an opportunity to experience what is to come.

The complete program lineup will be available online through our online registration system,, hosted by CivicRec. Residents will need to create an account with CivicRec, which will be verified by staff for residency requirements. Once you have created your account, you can add any members of your household to your account. For any questions on how to create your CivicRec account, call 305.993.7484.

Share Your Vision

The Recreation, Arts, and Culture Department is sharing a recreation survey to gain additional insight into what programs and schedules our residents are most interested in. The intention is to stay current with the needs and interests of our community. If you took the Recreation Needs Assessment Survey last year, you will find that the survey has been refined to provide a focus on recreation programming for the new Waterfront Park.
