Bal Harbour Beach Renourishment 2025

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has issued and awarded a project to place over 200,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand from an upland source along the critically eroded shoreline of Bal Harbour Village. This important project provides coastal storm risk management, including beach erosion control and hurricane surge protection.

Project Work Schedule

  • Work Days: Monday through Friday (Saturday work, if needed, to meet scheduled completion date)
  • Work Hours: Sunrise to Sunset (typically 7:00 am – 5:00 pm)
  • Contractor will observe all standard holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day)

Proposed Work Plan

The staging area is located at the 96th street beach access, seaward of the pedestrian path, but landward of the beach. The access area is located on 96th Street. The proposed MOT and Staging Plan are below for reference.

  • Construction safety fencing and signage will be installed at all work areas.
  • A UTV will escort each off-road truck to ensure public safety.
  • Signage will be placed along the Off-Road truck haul route. The signs will inform beach goers to stay clear of the travel lane. This lane will be dedicated for the UTV’s w/spotters to escort the Off-Road trucks from unloading at the work area to the fill template.
  • All contractor equipment is equipped with back-up alarms, spill kits and fire extinguishers.
  • All personnel will wear safety apparel per the EM385-1-1 and OSHA guidelines.
  • All staff and/ or site visitors shall be safety orientated on the required PPE, site conditions, and any AHA’s related to their work.
  • All buildings, storage areas and offices will be locked/ secured during non-operational hours.
  • All equipment will be parked in a secure area located within the fenced construction site.
  • Only properly trained/ certified flaggers are utilized.
