The Village’s Capital Program Department made significant progress on several major initiatives during the first half of 2026, advancing projects that will enhance public spaces, strengthen municipal operations, and support the community’s long-term vision.
Harbourfront Park, Jetty, and Cutwalk Project
The Harbourfront Park, Jetty, and Cutwalk Project continues to move forward and is currently in the final stages of obtaining its last required permit through the Village’s Building Department. Once the permit is secured, the next major milestone will be the presentation of the Construction Manager at Risk’s Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) to the Village Council.
Over the past several months, the project team collaborated to refine important design elements, including updates to the lighting plans to meet Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) requirements. Coordination between Kimley-Horn & Associates, the project’s prime consultant and Engineer of Record, and Mikyoung Kim Design (MYKD), the project’s design architect, also ensured that paving materials remained consistent with the original design vision.
The Village’s in-house architectural professionals also completed a comprehensive quality assurance review of the construction documents, providing an additional level of technical oversight and helping ensure the project remains aligned with the Village’s design standards as it moves closer to construction.
New Village Hall, Police Station, and Emergency Operations Center Project
The New Village Hall, Police Station, and Emergency Operations Center Project also achieved several important milestones during the first half of 2026. Highlights included a successful community outreach event, approval of the project’s Basis of Design Report, and completion of the programming phase.
The project is now advancing through schematic design, with the next major milestone being design development and review by the Village’s Architectural Review Board (ARB).
Throughout the programming phase, WJ Architects, the project’s prime consultant and design architect, worked closely with Wolfberg Alvarez, the project’s Architect of Record, Village leadership, and departmental stakeholders to develop a facility program that balances operational, security, and functional needs. The Village’s in-house architectural professionals also provided technical reviews and space planning support to facilitate coordination among stakeholders and advance the project into the next phase.
Another significant achievement was the adoption of amendments to the Village Code establishing development standards for municipal buildings within the RM-5 District. These updates provide the regulatory framework necessary to support the development of future municipal facilities.
Together, these accomplishments reflect the Village’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality capital projects that enhance community spaces, improve public services, and support the Village’s long-term strategic goals.
