Bal Harbour Village is proud to celebrate Black History Month through the visual arts. Black Americans have made incredible contributions to the arts and culture in our community throughout our Nation’s history. Many of our Unscripted Art Access museum partners are hosting special exhibits and events highlighting the work and success of black artists and creatives. We hope that all residents and visitors can participate in these events throughout the month of February.

Nou Kite Sa Dèyè is the largest solo exhibition of Didier William’s career, which presents an inside look into the neighborhood he grew up in North Miami.

“Hervé Télémaque: 1959–1964” brings together over a dozen paintings from the artist’s first five years of production. These early works reflect the artist’s beginnings from abstract pieces in the late 1950s to 1964 as a new visual language began to appear, which would eventually blossom as Pop art.

Alexandre Diop uses discarded objects to create work that raises questions pertaining to sociopolitical, cultural and gender issues. Drawing inspiration from his European and African roots, he explores the legacies of colonialism and diaspora while tackling universal themes of ancestry, suffering, and historical violence.

Conversations at MOCA: The Aesthetic Languages of Haiti in Diaspora

The Aesthetic Languages of Haiti in the Diaspora is a panel discussion that will go into the depth of the perspective of three notable diasporic Haitians whose work draws on their complex relationship to the place of their birth from the perspective of diaspora. Panelists include Michelle Lisa Polissaint, Mark Fleuridor, and Morel Doucet.
