Portraits of Bal Harbour is a commemorative storytelling initiative created in honor of the Village’s 80th Anniversary. Through this campaign, we celebrate the residents whose lives, leadership, service, and achievements have helped shape Bal Harbour and positively influence the broader South Florida community. These portraits spotlight individuals whose personal stories reflect the Village’s enduring values—excellence, resilience, generosity, and civic pride—and whose contributions have left a meaningful and lasting impact. We invite the community to nominate residents whose legacy, dedication, or accomplishments embody the spirit of Bal Harbour and help tell the story of the people who make our Village truly exceptional.
Nomination Criteria
Nominees for Portraits of Bal Harbour should be current or longtime residents whose lives and contributions reflect the spirit and values of the Village. Individuals may be nominated based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Community Impact: Demonstrated meaningful contributions to Bal Harbour and/or the greater South Florida community through service, leadership, philanthropy, or civic engagement.
- Lasting Legacy: A history of positive influence or long-term involvement that has helped shape the character, growth, or reputation of the Village.
- Professional or Personal Achievement: Notable accomplishments in professional, cultural, educational, military, or humanitarian fields that bring pride and distinction to Bal Harbour.
- Representation of Village Values: Embodies the values of excellence, integrity, resilience, generosity, and civic pride.
- Inspirational Story: A personal journey or life experience that inspires others and reflects the diverse and unique stories within our community.
Residents of all backgrounds, professions, and ages are encouraged to be nominated. Selections will honor individuals whose stories help tell the rich and evolving history of Bal Harbour as part of its 80th Anniversary celebration.
Submitting a Nomination
To recommend a resident for recognition, please email communications@balharbourfl.gov with the following information:
- Full name of the resident
- A brief description of their accomplishment, milestone, or contribution to the community
- Why you believe they should be recognized
- A photo of the resident (if available)
- Your name and contact information
Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected residents will be featured in an upcoming edition of the newsletter.
