Join us for an immersive and transformative experience at the NSU Art Museum, the newly permanent home to the Christo and Jeanne-Claude Surrounded Islands Documentation Exhibition. 

This exhibit pays homage to the 1983 landmark installation Surrounded Islands where artist duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude dressed 11 Biscayne Bay islands in pink fabric skirts for two weeks. This installation is widely known to have put Miami on “The Map”, transforming Miami Beach into the dynamic art scene we have today. There are over 43 preparatory drawings and collages, as well as photographs and sections of pink fabric that will permanently display the legacy of Surrounded Islands.

Transportation will be provided. Attendees will meet at the Bal Harbour Waterfront Park (18 Bal Bay Drive, Bal Harbour, FL 33154) and travel to the museum together.

This event is open for Bal Harbour residents and hotel guests. Reservations are $5 per person (plus applicable credit card fees).

ART TOUR SCHEDULE
3:30 PM Guest check-in begins at the Bal Harbour Waterfront Park.
4 PM Bus departs for NSU Art Museum.
5 PM Bus arrives at NSU Art Museum.
5:30 PM Members Preview Reception begins.
8 PM Bus departs.
9 PM Bus arrives back at Bal Harbour Waterfront Park.

Guests staying at one of our four Bal Harbour hotels can conveniently register by calling 305.993.7444 or by emailing events@balharbourfl.gov. Please include your complete name, email address, number of guests in your party, and which hotel you are staying at. Payment is due before the event.
