Park Amenities
The Bal Harbour Waterfront Park sits on a 1.5-acre site and has quickly become an iconic image for the Village. Throughout the exterior of the park, residents canenjoy an outdoor deck overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, a public dock area with a kayak launch, a continuous walking path, a beautifully landscaped lawn and Zen Garden, an ocean-themed interactive splash pad, a basketball court, exercise stations, and seating thoughtfully designed throughout. The jewels of the park are the playgrounds, designed and constructed by Monstrum, a world-recognized playground design firm, based in Denmark. The playground tells the story of Mother Earth and the cycle of life of the Florida Heron as it grows from playground to playground with our youngest residents.
The stunningly designed community center includes three stories and encompasses 12,000 square feet. The community center features multiple spaces that can be used for recreational programs and activities as well as events and rentals. Book Haven
Bal Harbour Waterfront Park is home to our Book Haven. A home for residents to share and enjoy books. Residents are encouraged to take a book and share a book. If you see something in our collection that you would like to read it, take it with you. Whether that’s for an afternoon read on the lawn, while you wait for class at the community center to begin, or at your own pace at home. Residents can also share a book they have enjoyed by donating books to the Book Haven.
A collection of fun board games are also available for families to enjoy together during their visits. While books can be taken home to be savored at your own pace, we ask that board games remain in the facility for everyone to enjoy.
The Book Haven can be accessed in the first floor lobby of the community center at the Bal Harbour Waterfront Park during normal operating hours.

Recreation Programs
This past fall and winter seasons, we launched our Discover Recreation program preview. The program series offered a sampling of complimentary programming for all ages, including a Beach Soccer Clinic for youth, a Teen Game Night, and Tai Chi for Adults and Seniors. The program preview allowed residents to experience some of the programs that would be available at the new Bal Harbour Waterfront Park. Through the series, the Recreation, Arts, & Culture Department gathered additional feedback on program offerings, instructors, and schedules.
Programs are now well underway at the Bal Harbour Waterfront Park with a variety of programs to meet the interests and needs of all ages. The complete program lineup is available online through our online registration system, balharbourfl.gov/recreation, hosted by CivicRec. Residents will need to create an account with CivicRec, which will be verified by staff for residency requirements. Once you have created your account, you can add any members of your household to your account. For any questions on how to create your CivicRec account, call 305.993.7444.
Share Your Vision
The Recreation, Arts, and Culture Department is sharing a recreation survey to gain additional insight into what programs and schedules our residents are most interested in. The intention is to stay current with the needs and interests of our community. If you took the Recreation Needs Assessment Survey last year, you will find that the survey has been refined to provide a focus on recreation programming for the new Waterfront Park.
Share your feedback online by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QD3B8P3.
With your feedback, the Village will continue to evaluate our program offerings each season and make adjustments to best suit our community’s evolving needs.
Be a Part of the Legacy!
Be a part of the legacy as we launch our newest campaign, Our Year at the Bal Harbour Waterfront Park. The community-wide project will document our first year at the Waterfront Park highlighting our favorite moments and memories shared throughout the year. These can include events, programs, or just a day at the park with family and friends. As you create those memories, take a photo or jot it down and share it with us.
Photos can be shared with us on social media using #BalHarbourTimeCapsule or by uploading it online using the link below. Photos, videos, and written notes/stories are all accepted.
At the end of this year, we will collect all the memories you share with us, and they will be included in our time capsule, which will be buried in a ceremony following our first year.
