Stormwater

The Stormwater Division operates the stormwater system under the guidance of the County’s Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). The Division operates two pump stations that control about 50% of the stormwater within the Village. The other 50% discharges into outfalls and French drainage systems within the Village. The stormwater system associated with Collins Avenue, Harding Avenue, and 96th Street are the responsibility of the Florida Department of Transportation.

It is the goal of the DERM, FDEP, and the Village to ensure that stormwater does not create a pollution load into the bodies of water that encompasses the Village. The best way to accomplish this task is to ensure that the streets are clean and free of debris prior to a rainstorm. If a resident believes that a drain is not operating at an optimal level, please call 305.993.7391 or email [email protected] during daytime hours, or call 305.993.7360 after hours.
