Police & Academic Scholarship

The Bal Harbour Rotary Club (BHRC) along with the Bal Harbour Police Department (BHPD) is in search of a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled undergraduate student, from the Miami-Dade area interested in serving the community as a police officer, or interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice or Public Administration. The Bal Harbour Rotary Club/Bal Harbour Police Department Chiefs Mark N. Overton & Miguel A. de la Rosa Police & Academic Scholarship was established to honor the memory of two well-respected police chiefs who passed away. The BHRC and the BHPD are offering the scholarship to a high school graduate or currently enrolled undergraduate student. The scholarship will cover tuition up to $6,000 to attend a local Police Academy in Miami-Dade or Broward County or an undergraduate program in public administration or criminal justice. Applications will be available starting February 1, 2024 and are due to the Bal Harbour Police Department by July 1, 2024. The scholarship winner will be announced by August 1, 2024, and the recipient will have one year to attend a police academy or enroll in and begin an undergraduate program.
