Vehicle accident reports (crash reports) are now available to the public via the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). To obtain a copy of a crash report, please visit https://services.flhsmv.gov/CrashReportPurchasing/ and complete the required information. Please note the following:
- Crash reports usually become available 48 hours after a law enforcement agent successfully submits the report to the FLHSMV.
- Per Florida Statute 316.066, a crash report may be made available within 60 days of filing ONLY to persons who meet an eligibility exemption. Otherwise, the crash report will not be made available until after the 60-day waiting period is over.
- Exemptions include being a party involved in the crash and verification will be required.
- The fee associated with obtaining a copy of the crash report is $10.00 per report, plus an additional $2.00 convenience fee for each payment transaction (subject to change by the State).
Important note regarding the release of traffic crash reports: Per Florida Statute 316.066, persons requesting to obtain a crash report within sixty (60) days after the date the record was filed, “must present a valid driver’s license or other photographic identification, proof of status or identification that demonstrates his/her qualifications to access that information, and file a written sworn statement.”
