Bal Harbour Village is proud to support the Miami Diaper Bank in its mission to provide diapers and essential baby supplies to families in need throughout South Florida.
Founded in 2013, the Miami Diaper Bank collects and distributes diapers and other baby essentials to families experiencing diaper insecurity while raising awareness about this critical need in our community.
Diapers are a basic necessity, yet many families struggle to afford an adequate supply for their children. Access to clean diapers plays an important role in a child’s health and well-being and can also affect a family’s ability to access childcare, attend work or school, and afford other necessities.
By donating diapers or making a monetary contribution, you can directly support vulnerable families throughout South Florida. Together, our community can help ensure that babies and young children have access to the essential care they need to remain clean, dry and healthy.
Diaper Need: The Facts
- Nearly half of families (46%) reported experiencing diaper need.
- Babies can require 8–12 diapers per day, costing families more than $100 per month.
- Diapers are not covered by federally subsidized programs such as SNAP (Food Stamps) or WIC.
- 46% of families experiencing diaper need reported cutting other expenses, including food and utilities, to afford diapers.
- Diaper insecurity can contribute to stress, anxiety and unmet health needs for families.
- Parents are generally required to provide disposable diapers for their children to attend childcare.
- One in four parents and caregivers experiencing diaper need reported missing work or school because they did not have enough diapers for childcare.
